Q: Tattoo Dyes are injected into my skin. Are they safe?
A: In Canada, Tattoo Dyes are considered cosmetics and regulated by Health Canada under the Food and Drugs Act and Cosmetic Regulations. According to Health Canada, "It is against the law to sell products in Canada which do not meet the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations." Manufacturers are required to notify Health Canada of their products. You should always confirm that the dyes used for your Tattoo are properly registered with Health Canada. Information on the Cosmetic Regulations, how to notify Health Canada and other regulations can be found at www.healthcanada.gc.ca/cosmetics.
Q: How do I look after a new Tattoo?
A: With a little time and proper care, your new Tattoo should heal up nicely. Be sure not to spoil it with improper care in the first few days. For more detailed information, check out my Tattoo Care advice.
